Chapter 19

when Henry and Wilson find out that their regiment is being insulted they are really shocked and upset because they think that their regiment is really great what makes it worse is that they over hear the officer and lieutenant talking and they say how they think that most of the 304Th soldiers will probably die in the up coming battle. Henry and Wilson go back to the other soldiers and want to tell them what they have just heard and that they need to get ready to charge but as the officers are getting them into formation they think that they should keep the secret to them selves because they don't want to taunt any of the soldiers or at least scare them or anything, so they just prepare them selves for battle. finally the men charge forward and they reach the enemy lines and Henry and Wilson are just watching as many soldiers are getting taken out one by one bullet by bullet and the look deformed (grotesque) Henry sees the regiments flag and he starts to run to it as if it were sacred and then the soldier responsible for carrying it is shot down so Henry and Wilson pry the flag from the dead soldiers fingers and begin to charge on.
Question: why do the officers and them think that the 304th regiment will be horrible in battle and die because i thought that they were one of the best?
