Henry wished that he could have a wound so he would have a red badge of courage. Henry went back and saw Jim and he was so excited and Jim asked him were he had been and Jim thought he was keeled over. also Jim was telling how he was out here shot and it was like a circus. Jim told Henry that he was afraid he will fall over and the artillery wagons would run him over but Henry swears to god that he will take care of Jim is happy and glad that Henry says that, then all the sudden he tells Henry to stay away from him and Henry is confused but he still tries to take Jim into a field were the artillery wagons won't get him or scare him, Jim refuses and he runs into a bush i think? and then Henry and the tattered soldier go in after him and watch Jim fall down and he starts shaking very fast and finally Jim dies and that tattered soldier and Henry (the youth) are horrified.
Question: why does Jim not want them to take him to the feild? What made Jim just almost freak out like he did?
